To learn more about constant pressure check out http://www.constantpressure.com/ .
You can have a constant pressure pump for about the same price as a traditional pump and pressure tank. A constant pressure pump is a variable speed pump that changes the amount of water that it pumps according to the demand. If you set the pump at a certain pressure the pump will vary only a couple of psi from what ever you set it at.
Pressure tanks are the most over looked part of the water system but are one of the most important. It is designed to make your pump last longer. The way it works is the tank has a diaphragm or a blatter that leaves room for air that is pressurized on the top section of the tank. This pressurized air pushes down on the water to give you water pressure when the pump has shut down at the correct maximum pressure as set on you pressure switch. The reason that it is so important, is that the pressure tank gives the pump a break from running all the time to keep up the pressure. It also gives it time to cool down between cycles. Pressure tanks should be checked for the correct air pressure once per year. One indication that the pressure tank is bad is being water logged, in other words completely full of water. If it is water logged then you will get water to come out of the valve stem on the top of the tank. The reason that it gets water logged is the diaphragm or blatter will get a hole in it and will let water get into the section of the tank where the air is suppose to be. If you have not had your pressure tank serviced in a while then give us a call, at 480-282-1229 to schedule an appointment to make sure you have the correct air pressure. In the long run, it could save a lot of money by making your pump last longer.
